Recognizing Illness Very Early and Responding (R.I.V.E.R.) is a student-run, public health organization that works to bridge the gap between preventative care and medical treatment by providing nutrition and exercise education and professional resources to underserved communities in the greater Sacramento and Davis areas. This clinic seeks to screen for and identify Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) risk factors in the pediatric community, and address them through Trauma Informed Care and interactive workshops.

Clinic History
R.I.V.E.R.'s longtime goal as an organization was to expand its service goals through the formation of a pediatric clinic. In 2019, board members Sims Ma and Tara Allison spearheaded the effort towards clinic development by engaging with donors, researching the mobile vehicle design, and creating a team of clinic development interns and board members who currently work on outreach, fundraising, and ACE education!
